He is also an opera singer, narrator, actor, podcaster, best selling author and founder of the Mike Rowe Works scholarship program which offers millions of dollars each year in scholarships to help and encourage people of all ages, to learn a trade.  He is intelligent, engaging, funny and passionate about destroying the stigmas that have been put on pursuing skill and trade careers. Episode 27 - Michael Cartellone - Lynyrd Skynyrd & The Damn Yankees

Michael Cartellone has been the drummer for Lynyrd Skynyrd for 26 years and he also founded The Damn Yankees.  He is as prolific a painter as he is a drummer, working not only with various mediums in paint, but also drumming with artists in addition to Skynyrd & The Damn Yankees from Cher to Wolf Hoffman & Accept.  His gifts and talents are immense.  He is also a very kind and engaging person. Geezer Butler, bassist and one of the primary lyricists and founding members of Black Sabbath, has a new book out, Into The Void - From Birth to Black Sabbath and Beyond.  We spoke about it, his bandmates, growing up in post World War II England, what it's like to play a gig after 4 hits of acid and more.  The details were at times gritty, but he is engaging and authentic in his recollections.
